Writing - Part 2 - C1 Advanced (CAE) - Practice, Write & Improve

I would like to lodge a formal complaint regarding my visit in Barry’s Restaurant on May 2, 2022. Not only was I displeased with the service, but also the food was terrible. I did bring this issue to the staff in the local that day, however I was asked to put my complaints in writing.

To begin with, as we arrived to the restaurant we had to wait 20 minutes in the doors despite having a reservation for the table made three days in advance. Because of this, we felt really disrespectful and it spoilt our mood for the evening. To make this situation worse, we were not apologized by any of the waiters. Moreover, the waiting time for our order was also certainly too extensive, so while having the reservation for 6 p.m., we had our food on the tables around 8.pm.

I also want draw your attention to how the food is served, as in each of our dishes potatoes were raw which made them impossible to be eaten. To top it all of, my friend found a hair strain in her salad. All of these flaws were so intolerable that we left the restaurant without finishing our meals.

Considering all the above I would like to require a full refund of the money we spend in your restaurant. Moreover, I strongly recommend you to take some action regarding these issues to embetter the service as well as food quality because it makes customers highly dissatisfied.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours sincerely,
XYZ”
